Here’s The First Look At The New Rs. 50 Note

By | August 19, 2017

The Reserve Bank of India announced on Friday that it will shortly be issuing a new set of notes of Rs. 50 denomination.

The new notes are along the lines of the Rs. 500 and Rs. 2000 notes that were issued after last year’s demonetisation, which saw the old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes ceasing to be legal tender in a historic move to tackle black money.

As per the RBI, the new Rs. 50 notes carry the motif of Hampi, Karnataka, with the iconic stone Chariot on the back. The Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi remains on the front of the bill.

The central bank also clarified that the pre-existing Rs. 50 notes will continue to be accepted as legal tender and will remain in circulation.
